"Stateroom six", by William Albert Lewis (1856-??): the bad luck of a gambler proves the good fortune of a young girl
"Her eyes, your honor", by H. D. Umbstaetter (1851-1913): a resourceful lawyer stops at nothing to save a woman from the gallows
